Making A High Performance Team

making a high performance teamMaking A High Performance Team is analogous to making a great Pizza. My youngest loves Papa John’s. What does Papa John’s say about making a great pizza:

We don’t use cheap and more processed ingredients. Whether it’s our signature sauce, toppings, our original fresh dough, or even the box itself, we invest in our ingredients to ensure that we always give you the finest quality pizza.

So, you can talk about recipes and and temperatures for cooking, but to make a great pizza, you need great ingredients. Anyone getting hungry for a great team?

I smile when they say “more processed ingredients”. Many times recruiters give you more packaged candidates meaning they are making them look better than the real thing.

Great teams need great hires. From that base the effort to have a great team begins. Without that, using facilitations like Overcoming 5 Dysfunctions of a Team will not be successful in companies. Only open and real discussions can work, and the wrong hires have all the skills to throw a wrench in that. The book itself showed that Mickey had to leave before the team could move forward.  These all too common bad hires  want everyone to be open except themselves. Their secrets are too important.  See also Let’s Get Collaboration and Innovation Working Together .

Make a High Performance Team With Great Hires

How do we make sure? We work harder. We work transparently and make sure that all information is transparent. Other recruiters would rather work in the gray zone. Getting all the dat kills too many candidates and makes the work too hard. We are just the folks to dig in there and get the real data though it kills apparently excellent candidates. Fantasy always sounds more interesting than the real thing, so candidates use it all the time to capture the hiring manager.

We can definitely fix any part of a low performing team but giving you the right ingredient in a new hire. SHI Group likes to sleep at night after making a placement and that gets you better sleep too.
